Max Verstappen won the Japanese Grand Prix and took his second world championship in Suzuka. It's lights out in Suzuka after 3 years. But a rainy Suzuka brings nothing but chaos and chaos is delivered. The opening lap had multiple incidents that immediately triggered the session's red flag.
Sebastian Vettel spun, in turn, one after having a small content with Alonso. Carlos Sainz suffered aquaplaning and went crashing into the barriers. That in turn made the flex boards fly out which hit Gasly. The safety car was triggered but the session was red-flagged to fix the barriers. With rain coming down heavily, all cars were instructed to go into the pitlane.
The race was suspended for more than 2 hours due to the rain. Each team engaged in fan engagement to entertain the Japanese fans who were waiting in rain for some good racing. Which they got at last.
We finally got 40 minutes of good racing. Max cruising around Suzuka for a win. Charles chases him to deny Max his championship. But his small mistake in the last lap cost Charles his P2 and gave Max his 2nd championship.
