Chaos, Controversies and Concerns

The 2022 Monaco Grand Prix took a dramatic turn when it started to rain just 10 minutes before lights out.

Having no running time on wets or interest, all teams were in a state of confusion and the choice of the tyre was crucial. Some on interest and someone wets, but the intensity of the rain kept increasing and the formation lap was delayed. But the delayed start soon turned into a red flag when the rain wouldn't stop. Although we have raced before in the rain, The FIA prioritized safety first and red-flagged the session.

After a long red flag, a 10-minute warning was given and we had a rolling start behind the safety car.

It was a safety car in and away we go. Both the Ferraris had an amazing start with the Bulls chasing behind them.

Lap1 of 77, Latifi touched the barriers at the hairpin lightly. Behind him, Lance Stroll had a small incident too. Both Canadians into the pits for a tyre change.

Lap 7/77, a few drivers into for new set of inters after Gasly set the fastest laps in them. That was the call for all the other drivers to pit for inters as well.

The race took a strange turn in lap 22 when Ferrari decided to double stack, Charles behind Carlos. A small delay in Charles's pitstop cost him his win in his home race.

A yellow flag was triggered, when Mick has a nasty crash at the swimming pool section. That Haas split into two.

Thankfully, Mick walked out of the car fine, Thanks to the double layered techpro barriers and was taken in to get check by the grid doctor. Just before that, his teammate, Kevin retired due to some technical issues in his car. Since the barriers needed to be fixed, safety car was released. Yet the session for red flagged again. All cars returned to the pitlane. Lap 31, it was a safety car restart. Lap 33, safety car in and Perez leading the race followed by Sainz and Vertsappen who was followed by Leclerc.

While the top 4 were on each others tails, the back of the grid looked so lonely. Lap 33, Alonso was holding but the entire mid and backfielder to defend his P7 position which irritated the drivers behind him.

Chequred flag out and Sergio Perez wins the Monaco grand Prix with Sainz in second and Max in third.

While Checo celebrated his win, it was a disaterous race for the home town hero, Charles Leclerc. Sergio made history by winning the Monaco GP and became the most successful Mexican driver in Formula One.

The entire paddock was happy for Checo and the same time feeling sympathy to C harles as well. At the end, it was all for the best. This was the first home race Charles has completed until the chequered flag, that itself is a win. Hoping for Charles to win his home race in the near future.

Next up, its another street circuit. We will be hitting the street of Baku.
