French Qualifying - 2021

f1paddockgirl

Well, as per my last post I said FP1 & FP2 were boring. FP3 went exactly the same, boring. That's what I was expecting from qualifying as well. Well, let's say I was proved wrong.

Q1

Q1 was started by Gasly followed by Raikkonen and Schumacher. As all the drivers ever coming out of the pits and were on their outer lap. There was a yellow flag in sector one as Yuki Tsunoda spun around after hitting the curbs in turn 2. He got stuck after the hit and eventually the session was red-flagged after 3:41 seconds into the session. That was the end for Yuki's session and he will start at the back of the grid.

After a few minutes, the re-start was headed by Charles followed by his teammate Carlos and Bottas. As everyone went off their flying laps, the session was Red flagged again as Mick Schumacher spun and hit the barriers in turn 7.

Although it was a heartbreak for Mick he did qualify for Q3. As the red flag brought the end for Q1, the last few drivers didn't get to put a good time in for Q1 and they were out.

Latifi, Raikonnen, Mazepin, Stroll and Yuki were out of Q1 due to the red flag.

Q2

Q2 was led by Gasly, Norris and Charles which went without any problems. A few drivers got their lap times deleted due to exceeding track limits in turn 6. Mick, Russell, Giovanazzi, Vettel and Ocon were out of Q2.

The fight for pole - Q3

The top ten cars battled for that pole position in the last 10 minutes of Q3. As all drivers went on their flying laps. Max Verstappen takes the pole position with Hamilton in 2nd and Bottas in 3rd. Mercedes finally got on the top of the charts after a dismal couple of races.

Max grabs Pole position in France.

The top 10 are as follows : VER, HAM, BOT, PEZ, SAI, GAS, LEC, NOR, ALO, RIC

Let's see who wins the French GP tomorrow. Only time can tell.

Until then. Adieu !!!!!
