Bright and sunny day, all cars on track trying out and laying down rubber on the new tarmac. Fifteen minutes into the session, the session was red-flagged as a bodywork from Checo's Redbull fell out in the last corner and on the racing line. After a very short red flag, the session resumed and all cars were out again and set the fastest time on the new and improved track.
Vettel triggered the second red flag as he stopped in sector three, where he faced some issues with his engine. No the ideal start for his season. Seb is finally back, after testing negative for covid and missing the first two races.
The session resumes and Ferrari is still on the top. Followed by the bulls. Home town hero DR3 seemed to have a good FP1 session as he was in the top ten along with his teammate.
Overall a clean and decent FP1 session.
Still, a long way to go into this weekend.
