Beautiful day at Silverstone. For the first time, we have a full sold-out grandstand filled with British fans. As British flags wave in the air, it's time for free practice ahead of qualifying. This is the first time qualifying is held on a Friday since 2003.
It's Green Light for Free Practice
Free practice went pretty smoothly as Carlos was the first who went on the track followed by Ricciardo and Leclerc.
Solid full 60 minutes of free practice went by pretty quickly. As FP1 came to an end, Max went the fastest followed by Norris and Hamilton. All drivers went to the pits to prepare for the qualifying ahead.

One of the most intense qualifying sessions ever. The results of qualifying sets the grid for the Sprint Qualifying tomorrow. All cars on the grid and everyone on a flying lap. As Q1 comes to end the last five drivers to get knocked out of the session were MAZ, MSC, LAT, RAI, TSU.
Its green lights for Q2. All cars go on for the next set of flying laps. Mr Saturday turned into Mr Friday as he went for his final flying lap. With Alonso in P10, it was crucial for William to get into Q3. Russell crossed the chequered flag and goes 10th fastest pushing Alonso to P11. The crowd went wild as Russell crossed the grandstand. It was indeed a wonderful day in the Williams garage. The last five drivers to get knocked out from Q2 are STR, GIO, OCO, GAS, ALO.
Now it's the fight for the pole for the Sprint Race.
All 10 cars on the track. But only one can get that pole position. All cars setting the fastest lap time. As the chequered flag out, Hamilton goes fastest but uncertainty is in the air as Max starts his flying lap. All eyes glued to the screen. Everyone has their hands crossed. Max crosses the flag but only goes second fastest. And the crowd goes wild as their home town hero Sir Lewis Hamilton gets the provisional pole for the sprint race. Nothing like winning in front of the home turf. Hamilton got The Speed King Perille Award in Parc Ferme.
A good for Mercedes is LH in P1 and VB in P3. Both were split by a very angry Max in P2 as he was not happy with the performance.
All eyes on tomorrow for the first Sprint Qualifying for Sunday's grid.
A very promising weekend for the British fans as all three of their home town heroes qualified in the top 10 (LH-P1, LN-P6, GR-P8)
