The sun is shining bright on the beautiful red bull ring. All cars fired up in the pit lane after FP3 to fight for the pole position.
Mick exits the pitlane followed by Latifi and Mazapin as Q1 starts. Each team is out on the track trying to out-qualify their own teammates and the fight to make it into Q2.
With only 5 minutes to go the drivers standing were way off. Teamates were in the extreme ends of each other. With Verstappen in P1 but Checo in P 11, Norris in P3 and Daniel in P15, Stroll in P10 and Vettel in P13, Alonso in P8 and Ocon in P14, Leclerc in P5 and Sainz in P12. It was a very crucial time for all since all were under the elimination threat.
Kimi goes off the track and into the gravel but comes out quickly. With only 3 minutes to go all cars fly out from the pitlane. Traffic builds in turn 9 as all try to set a record time to get out of elimination.
The chequered flag is waved and the last 5 to get eliminated from Q1 are Maz, Msc, Rai, Ocon, Latifi.
GREENLIGHTS FOR Q2
Bottas starts the Q2 followed by Russell and Giovanazzi. Red bull changed strategies by changing Checo to soft and Max on hards. As Max flies out followed by Hamilton who goes a little wide in turn 3 and losses time and goes 4th fastest. Gasly goes fastest. With only 4 minutes to go all cars return to the pitlane for a final flying lap to get into Q3. All cars go on a flying lap to get into Q3. With only 27 seconds to go, all cars start their final lap.
The last 5 to get out of Q2 were Gio, Vettel, Ricciardo, Sainz, Russell who lost P10 just by 0.008 seconds to Alonso. A disappointment for Mr . Saturday.
The fight for Pole is on!
All cars fly out to secure the pole for tomorrows race. As Bottas was going on his flying lap
and was blocked by Yuki and he lost three-hundredth of seconds. That incident will be investigated after the session. As the chequered flag is out, Max goes fastest to get the pole followed by Bottas and Hamilton. Since Bottas was given a 3 place grid penalty. He will start 7th. Hamilton will
stand in P2 and Lando Norris in P3 with his excellent performance in his McLaren.
Yuki was handed a 3 place grid penalty for blocking Bottas, which means he will start 11th and Alonso, Lance and Russell will move one place up.

Max secured his first pole in the RedBull Ring. This is the first time RedBull had secured back to back pole position since 2013 when Sebastian Vettel was driving for RedBull.
